BULLNOSED / FULL ROUND WINDOWBOARD MACHINED PROFILE. FAS / Prime Grade Hardwood. All timber has been Kiln Dried. 22mm thickness in a selection of widths and lengths. These boards are available in standard lengths from 600mm up to 2350mm. The species is distributed in East and principally West Africa; particularly Nigeria and the Gold and Ivory Coast regions. The heartwood has a medium to dark reddish-brown colour, characterised by a well defined ribbon striped figuration on quartered surfaces. Sometimes, when wavy grain is present, a very attractive fiddleback figure, roe figure or occasionally, beautifully mottled figure is obtained.
The weight varies between 560-690kg/m3. Sapele is one of the best mahogany type timbers, and works without difficulty by either hand or machine tools. It glues well and provides an excellent polished finish. Principal uses are in quality furniture, cabinetmaking, musical instruments &c. And it is ideally suited to wood turning and wood crafts in general.
