The bulk of our stock is in the 25-30mm thickness range, however we can access thicker boards upon request. All materials are hand picked and processed in our small workshop solely by myself, so rest assured there is no room for any detail being overlooked. Each Oak plank in stock is hand sanded to an 80 grit stage and then further sanded through to a 120 grit and 180grit finish. Finer finishes can be arranged if required?
The Oak usually ends up a beautiful honey colour after sanding, but can vary with character in lightness and darkness with each piece. Initially boards are sanded to follow the natural contours of each board on all faces, enhancing character and natural/rustic appearance. Some boards may have slight splits, knots or knot holes, further enhancing the piece. Where any major splits may affect a board, we generally deduct the affected part when calculating its value. Should you require a completely flat surface on one or both sides of a board, we can happily do that for you with any board you may be interested in, although this will naturally affect the finished thickness of the board. We have boards with double waney/live edges, Single live edges, partial live edges and square cut edges to meet any requirements you may have. If I don't have what you are looking for in stock, I'll find it for you! The photographs shown, show the advertised board and it ID number/dimensions and price. If you would like further photographs before purchasing, please let me know the ID number and I will be happy to provide.

Oak boards can have the following characteristics, however they do not impact the integrity of the board and only enhance its character and appearance. Knots, Knot holes, Shakes, minor cracks, Spalting, Pipping, Woodworm holes in sap wood, undulations and possible capping due to the natural tensions /forces within the wood during the drying process. All of our Oak is Kiln dried to less than 12% and should therefore remain stable in a normal home environment.
